Below are some of the questions we receive most often.  Don't see your question here?  Need more information?  No problem!  Get in touch today, we're happy to help.

What should I bring?
The X Bar Ranch is far from most major cities and just under twenty miles from the closest small towns of Eldorado, Sonora or Ozona, Texas.  Guests should be sure to bring appropriate clothing and shoes if intending to hike during their stay and all guests should bring their own drinks and food items as meals are not provided.  The Round House and Live Oak Lodge (available 24/7 for guests staying in cabins) each has a full kitchen with oven/stove, microwave, refrigerator and more.

How do I get there?
We're located 8 miles north of Interstate 10 and approximately twenty miles southwest of Eldorado, Texas at 8300 FM 2129.  You can access interactive driving directions by clicking here.

How do I make a reservation?  What about checking in?
All guests must make advanced reservations. You can make reservations today by clicking here; within 24 hours of your intended visit, phone reservations are required. Day, camping and guests staying in cabins should check in at the Live Oak Lodge. If staying at the Round House, driving directions to the house will be sent to you prior to your arrival date, and you may check-in at the house. If we are unable to greet you in person, arrangements will be made to ensure informational material regarding your check-in is awaiting you. Like with overnight guests, advance reservations are required for day use and campers.  All guests must complete a release of liability form upon arrival.

Are pets allowed?
Pets of any kind are not allowed at the X Bar Ranch Nature Retreat.  Exceptions are made for guide animals.  Kennel services are available in nearby Sonora (23 miles) and San Angelo, Texas (65 miles).

I'd like to host a group event at the X Bar Ranch.
The X Bar Ranch Nature Retreat is perfect for group events ranging from small groups of 8 - 10 on up to 45.  Family reunions, retreats, small weddings, we've hosted them all.  Please click here for more information on renting the ranch.

Do you allow mountain bikes? ATVs? Horses?
Hiking trails at the X Bar Ranch are walking trails only.  Mountain biking, ATVs and horses are not allowed.

Will my car be ok on the ranch roads?
Ranch roads at the Live Oak Lodge and Cabins are small car and big car friendly.  Typically driving conditions make roads leading to the Round House navigable by any size vehicle although super low clearance vehicles (sports cars for example) would be the exception.

Do you have wifi? TV? Is there phone service?
The X Bar Ranch Nature Retreat offers free WiFi access at the Live Oak Lodge, the standard Cabins, the Bunkroom, Birdsong, Spiny Star and the Round House.  Sattelite TV is available in the Live Oak Lodge, the Birdsong, Spiny Star and the Round House.  Reliable cell phone service can be expected but varies by individual location and carrier.
